The creation of the brand Azimut is associated with the name of the Italian Paolo Vitelli, who began his activity in 1969. While still a student, Paolo was engaged in a charter, and then expanded the scope of activities and began to sell ships. He then joined forces with the Dutch company Amerglass and launched the first ship, the AZ 43 Bali.
In the early 70s, Azimut focused on the production of small fiberglass boats. The 32 Targa was launched by the company in 1977 and gained public recognition, and in 1982 the 105 Failaka appeared, which initiated the mass production of fiberglass boats. The 70s - 80s are the heyday of the company, when the demand for Azimut ships exceeded supply. That is why in 1985 the company bought the Benetti shipyard, which allowed it to become a leader in the production of yachts and boats.
In early 1990, the company buys several more shipyards in Fano and starts production in Avigliana. The company has own repair docks capable of servicing yachts up to 80 meters in length.
Now the total area of the brand's facilities for the production of ships exceeds 300 thousand square meters. Shipyards for the production of yachts and boats are located not only in Italy, but also in Brazil. The company spends in the region of $ 100 million every year to improve the lineup.
